Company Overview

The Worcester Youth Orchestras, founded in 1947, serves more than 250 families and students from Worcester County and Central Massachusetts. It is composed of four orchestras, jazz program, wind ensemble and chamber music program. Its home and offices are located at Mechanics Hall, Worcester, which is considered one of the finest pre-civil war concert halls in the United States. At Mechanics, the orchestras present major concerts which include two highly popular Holiday Pops, Four Orchestras Festival, Donor Season Preview and Season Finale Gala. The orchestras’ ensembles regularly collaborate with other local and regional arts organizations as well as presenting a series of community outreach events at senior homes and community centers. Through community partnerships, the orchestra reaches more than 500 children and attracts more than 3,500 concertgoers each season. The orchestras’ flagship WY Symphony Orchestra is a 100+ piece orchestra which has performed at numerous city and state civic events such as inaugurations, memorials and dedications. It tours every other year, most recently to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Austria in 2025, and Carnegie Hall in 2026.
